Akiira Geothermal signs 70 MW PPA with Kenya Power

The Kenyan utility will buy the power generated from the first phase of the Akiira Geothermal One project.
Breaking news from Kenya where Kenya Power & Lighting Ltd. a utility in the country will “buy 70 megawatts from Akiira Geothermal Ltd., a project developer, and Marine Power Generation Ltd., its development partner,” according to Bloomberg. This same source states that Kenya Power will sign the agreements tomorrow with both entities.
This follows earlier news this week stating that 8 geothermal wells in the Akiira Geothermal One project had been covered by Munich RE and that it would be developed in two 70MW phases.
