Guardian: "More than 6,000 European cities have signed up to the Covenant of Mayors, a voluntary commitment to go faster and further than EU climate targets."

Renewable energy development unfortunately takes time. Governments are always striving to provide a green solution for their respective administrations but change is often slow.

In a recent post in The Guardian, the newspaper showcases what some European cities are doing, leading the way and accelerating clean energy and reducing emissions. According to the same source, “More than 6,000 European cities have signed up to the Covenant of Mayors, a voluntary commitment to go faster and further than EU climate targets. Their climate action plans call for, on average, a 28% cut in CO2 emissions by 2020, 8% more than the EU’s 2020 target.”

This is obviously great news but it seems like geothermal is once again left behind in the green push. Cities like Paris are fully embracing geothermal district heating but there is much more latent potential still untapped.
