The 12th edition of the E-camp has just finished providing them with activities focused on sports and outdoor activities and renewable energy learning.

Following a long tradition, Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has held once again their summer camp for high school students in Negros Oriental in the Philippines.

According to local news, forty-seven bright high school students just finished a week of fun learning in the Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC) Energy Camp in Valencia, Negros Oriental.

Through the E-camp, which ran from April 30 to May 06, these campers composed of scholars from EDC’s host communities in Valencia, Negros Oriental and from Bago City and Murcia in Negros Occidental, and children of EDC employees learned why renewable energy such as geothermal is the best power option and why they are fortunate to have an abundant source of it in their own province.

Now on its 12th year, the E-camp is a summer camp designed to provide a productive, educational and enjoyable activity for the youth living in the company’s host communities, who usually do not have access to such. Where most summer camps focus on sports and physical development, the E-camp combines classroom and outdoor activities, addressing the need to develop a person’s whole being, both mind and body.

While learning about the importance and benefits of geothermal energy and environmental protection, the E-campers also engage in sports, survival training and other physical activities during the weeklong camp. The highlight of the camp is an adapted version of the “Amazing Race” where participants apply everything they learned while working together and competing against other teams. This exciting activity happens today and will be followed by the camp graduation.
