First unit of the Efeler geothermal power project commissioned in Turkey

The first unit of 47.4 MWe of the Efeler geothermal power project by Güris Holding was comissioned yesterday in Turkey. When completed the plant will have a total capacity of 162 MW and later up to 232 MWe.

Last night, Güris Holding has commissioned the first 47.4 MWe of the Efeler geothermal power project in Turkey. The plant is expected to have an installed capacity of up to 162 MWe and later up to 232 MWe when finished.

According to a statement from Güris Holding the Efeler plant will be the largest geothermal plant in Turkey. Efeler Unit 1 (Efe 1) has a capacity of 47.4 MWH, Units 2, 3 and 4 will have a capacity of 22.5 MW each.  The total capacity will be 162.3 MW with units 1 to 4, and reach 232.2 MW with the completion of the next stage. The plant will produce 1.92 billion kWh of electricity per year, corresponding to the annual power need of 850,000 homes.
