Former managers and the tender committee of Kenya's Geothermal Development Company have been charged for irregular procurement processes.

News from Kenya reported before the weekend that “the Director of Public Prosecutions has approved charges against the Managing Director of the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) and eight other officials over irregular procurement processes.”

GDC’s Managing Director Silas Simiyu will be charged alongside the entire Tender Committee members and the General Manager of Drilling Services Michael Mbevi.

“Having given full and careful consideration to the evidence in the file, the DPP is satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to sustain the proposed charges against the said GDC officials,” DPP Keriako Tobiko said in a statement Friday.

They are accused of irregularly procuring Rig Move services from Bonfide Clearing and Forwarding Limited in the last financial year.

The GDC Board suspended the officers early this month following a recent finding by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), which recommended surcharging the six as well as subsequent criminal prosecution.”

News of today report that some arrests have been made in the case.
