Larderello geothermal center attracts more and more visitors

Tourism related to geothermal activities in Tuscany, Italy between the provinces of Pisa, Siena and Grosseto has been quantified at 57 963 visits in 2014 providing revenues and jobs for local communities

Geothermal energy and plants can provide more than just plain old power and heating. According to Italian news, the geothermal center in Larderello has attracted 27,963 people and each year growing amounts of tourists that are interested in learning more about our industry.

Tourism has diversified in the region and goes beyond visiting geothermal plants or museums. Great results have also been achieved for Biancane, a geothermal trekking path in Monterotondo Marittimomo, the Open Sessions in geothermal plants during the summer season, Roman and Etruscan hot springs and baths in Sasso Pisano within the town of Castelnuovo Val Cecina just to list a few.

 

According to the Il Tirreno, “overall, tourism related to geothermal activities in Tuscany between the provinces of Pisa, Siena and Grosseto stood at 57 963 visits” in 2014. Geothermal generates jobs in the community and creates revenues for local governments by fostering tourism.
