Local news from the Philippines state that the geothermal deposits in Mindoro could generate at least 40 to 50 megawatts of electricity that will last for 75 years.

Gani Canaping, media and PR department head of Emerging Power, Inc. (EPI) said their discovery, dubbed as the “Mindoro Geothermal Project,” could generate more than enough energy for the whole island’s power needs in the next 20 years.
Canaping this promises low-cost electricity for the people of Mindoro.

Mr Canaping said ISOR, an Icelandic company, located the geothermal reservoir lying some 600 meters deep and that the clay cap which contains the geothermal fluid is just 200 meters from surface of Barangay Montelago, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
