Reuters: Kenya to start Drilling for geothermal at Menengai

Kenya's Geothermal Development Company is planning to drill up to six geothermal wells with two drilling rigs on project site in Menengai.

Reported earlier on ThinkGeoEnergy, Kenya has been close to start working on ambitious plans to increase its geothermal energy capacity. So a recent article by Reuters now announces that the country plans to start drilling at Menengai, according to the CEO of Geothermal Development Company.

According to the news piece the company intends to “drill six wells in the region, with two drilling rigs, by June 2011”. It is then planned, so the article, that by December 2011 it will be looking for four developers that will exploite the steam field at Menengai.
