Zorlu Natural Electricity (Zorlu Energy Group) accelerates studies on its planned 60MW geothermal power and 50 MW heat plant in the Kizildere geothermal field in the western province of Dinzli.

Reported today from Turkey, “Zorlu Natural Electricity, a company of Zorlu Energy Group, has accelerated studies to set up geothermal power plant.

The company plans to  set up a geothermal power plant, which has 60 MW electricity and 50 MW thermal power, in geothermal field of Kizildere town of western province of Denizli.

Zorlu Energy Director General Arif Ozozan told in a written statement that Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and Fuji Electric cooperation won the tender they announced for the stream turbine that would be used in the power plant.

He said they made an important step for the “biggest” geothermal power plant of Turkey, which they planned to conclude in 2013.

Ozozan said they company carried out the works in geothermal field of Kizildere in two stages. “We have been working to better the capacity of the field. We will also give high importance to support regional employment and natural agriculture in the long term,” he said.”

“Zorlu will receive a steam turbine with a capacity of 650 tons per hour that will be produced in Japan and delivered to the group in July. It will be installed at the K?z?ldere geothermal power station that Zorlu Enerji took over in 2008.

The company first did some rehabilitation works to increase the station’s capacity from 7 to 15 megawatts, according to Özozan. Drilling and exploration works then followed for about a year, after which Zorlu decided to invest in Turkey’s largest geothermal power station.”
